Elizabethton City Schools

New Tuition and Out-of-Zone Students (K-12)

Cyclone Connection Logo

Tuition students are those whose parents or guardians do not live within Elizabethton city limits, but who wish to attend Elizabethton City Schools as tuition-paying students.

Out-of-Zone placement requests may be made by parents for students who are zoned for an Elizabethton elementary school but wish to attend a different Elizabethton elementary school.

The Cyclone Connection serves as both the tuition application and the application for out-of-zone placement. It replaces the lottery drawing of previous years. Applications will be accepted during an enrollment window beginning at 8 a.m. on April 20 and ending at 7 p.m. on May 5. Parents who apply during this enrollment window will receive priority placement over those who apply after May 5. Applications will be organized based on the Priority Order (see below) and based on the in the order in which they are received. The link for the application will be posted here as well as on our Facebook page Elizabethton City Schools.

Based on current enrollment, there is space for 75 new tuition students at Elizabethton High School and 40 at T.A. Dugger Junior High for the 2017-18 school year. Applicants will be notified in mid-May with their child's place in line. K-5 students will be informed by Aug. 11 of their child's acceptance, and parents of students in grades 6-12 will be notified by or before Aug. 11. Parents are welcome to apply after the enrollment window, but they may not be notified in May of their child's place in line if they do so. If you do not have Internet access, you are welcome to use a computer at Central Office or at the Public Library.

The Cyclone Connection is for NEW tuition students only. Parents of current tuition students should follow the directions under the “Returning Students” tab to the left to update their child’s information in Skyward beginning on July 27, 2017.

The Cyclone Connection tuition application is easy to complete on any device and will require the following: your student's full-name; grade level for 2017-18; preferred elementary school if applicable, parents' names, email addresses, physical addresses, and phone numbers; whether the child has a sibling enrolled in ECS; and name and address of the school attended in the 2016-17 school year.
