Sponsors, volunteers needed for ECS Back-2-School Bash 2017

Backpacks

Last year, nearly 3,000 people celebrated the return to school at Elizabethton City Schools’ inaugural Back-2-School Bash. Hundreds of volunteers and supporters made it possible by sponsoring 800 backpacks full of school supplies, donating bicycles, inflatables, lunch and entertainment. This year, the district plans to raise $20,000 to provide 1,000 backpacks to Elizabethton students in grades K-12 at the second annual Back-2-School Bash. This free event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Citizens Bank Stadium from 10 a.m. to noon and all are invited.

The bash is more than a fun day where kids can run through the Elizabethton Police Department’s obstacle course and bounce on inflatables. It’s an important time for families to learn about their child’s school and resources available in the community. Nearly 40 different businesses and organizations were at the event last year educating about everything from immunizations, dental and eye exams to after-school programs and secondary education.

“Our students are our future, and their success depends on whether they are prepared with the tools they need to learn and be focused in class,” said Director of Schools Dr. Corey Gardenhour. “We are calling on the community to help them return to school with confidence by supporting the Back-2-School Bash.”

Needs this year include sponsors for backpacks, inflatables and lunch; volunteers; organizations that provide resources to families who would like to set up information tables; and prizes for winning ticketholders, like bicycles.

Please contact Bekah Price at bekah.price@ecschools.net for more information or to sponsor this event. Your organization will be recognized in several locations including in print and online for your support.
