Half Day Aug. 21 for Solar Eclipse

Parents, school will operate on a half-day schedule on Monday, Aug. 21 in lieu of the total solar eclipse. We hope you enjoy the eclipse, but please view it safely.

You must use approved solar glasses to look directly at an eclipse. Regular sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not adequate. Please take seriously the information provided by NASA regarding safe viewing. Photography is discouraged without the proper solar filter. Half-day schedules are:

  • EHS – 7:45–11:00 a.m.
  • TAD – 7:45–11:00 a.m.
  • Elementary – 8:00–11:30 a.m.

There are various community events taking place including a viewing party at Kiwanis Park at noon, and another at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area at noon.
