Students review data

Posted On: Friday, September 14, 2018

EHS Biology and Ecology students from Mrs.Denise Hilton's and Mrs. Jessica Hayes' classes recently traveled to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to provide asssitance with environmental studies. There they participated in a data collection survey on water and air quality.

Park Ranger Julianne guided the study, showing students proper techniques for collecting salamanders and lichen.

"Data  collected by our students will be used in an actual study to assess the environmental conditions of the area," said Mrs. Hayes.

"Having an outdoor classroom today helped me better my science skills," said Student Braxton Kirgon. "For example, I've used a dichotomous key before, but actually needing it to tell which salamander was which made it meaningful."
