Effective Monday, Feb. 19, Chris Berry will serve as Principal of T. A. Dugger Jr. High School. Joe Diaz, formerly a teacher at Elizabethton High School, will serve as assistant to the principal alongside Assistant Principal and TAD Athletic Director Jason Carter.
“Chris Berry has given Elizabethton City Schools many years of dedicated service,” said Director of Schools Dr. Corey Gardenhour. “He is highly respected among his peers and has been an excellent leader at T. A. Dugger. We are excited to see how that leadership will continue to transform the school and create new opportunities for our junior high students.”
Berry taught social studies at T. A. Dugger beginning in 2007 before being promoted to Assistant Principal in 2015. He received his Master of Administration and Educational Leadership in 2013 followed by his Educational Specialist Degree in 2014. During his time at T. A. Dugger, he has coached baseball and football as well as sponsoring the annual 8th grade field trip to Washington D. C.
Diaz has taught social studies at EHS for ten years and is excited to step into a leadership role at TAD. He holds a Master of Education and an Education Specialist Degree. In addition, he has coached high school baseball and sponsored the Mountain Club.
