Welcome Eric Wampler, Interim Director of Early Learning, Curriculum & Testing 6-12, and Data Services. Wampler has worked in Elizabethton City Schools for 14 years, most recently serving as Harold McCormick Principal for three years. During his time at HME, the school’s growth score rose from a Level 1 to a Level 5 in 2018.
Wampler will be filling in for Travis Thompson while Thompson is away on military leave with the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Tom Hopson will serve as the Interim Principal of Harold McCormick while Wampler is in his new role.
“I’m excited to be in a position where I can support faculty system-wide and look forward to continuing Mr. Thompson’s work,” Wampler said. “We have a great team of faculty and supervisors and have built a strong teacher support network this year that I think will be key to reaching our growth and achievement goals.”
Wampler is looking forward to applying his experience to improve achievement and growth system-wide. His duties include coordinating attendance initiatives and testing system-wide, supervising the Wandell Early Learning Center, and advising on curriculum and data for grades 6-12.
Prior to his work at HME, Wampler was Assistant Principal of T. A. Dugger Jr. High School. He joined the Air Force in 1995 and has served in Operation Northern Watch and Operation Desert Fox. He continues to serve the country in the Tennessee Air National Guard and has served in support of Operation Joint Forge, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Southern Watch. He enjoys spending time with family, hunting, fishing, golf, and scuba diving.
