Scholarships listed on this webpage are updated as we receive them. Please check for new scholarships and approaching deadlines. Also visit the Counseling Office at EHS for applications. The daily bulletin at EHS also has scholarships listed that are currently available.

Application Deadline: January 31

Rise Foundation Scholarship

Open to seniors with a documented Learning Disability who plan to attend an accredited college or university; must be a US Citizen; must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher; must provide a letter of reference from a teacher, counselor, or principal. Applications are available online at www.RiseScholarshipFoundation.org and must be submitted between January 1 and January 31. Awards of $2,500 will be given to five students with Learning Disabilities and five students with Autism. Additionally, 10 honorable mentions students will receive $500.

AFA Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship

Open to Seniors planning to enter a four-year accredited college or university. Students complete an autobiography and write a 1,200-1,500 word essay that answers the following questions:

  • How has Alzheimer's disease changed or impacted your life?

  • What have you learned about yourself, your family and/or your community in the face of coping with Alzheimer's disease?

AFA will award a $5,000 scholarship to the grand prize winner, a $500 award to first runner-up, and $250 to second runner-up. For information and an application visit www.afateens.org.

DAR General Scholarship

Open to seniors with a GPA of 4.0; Student will be awarded $5,000 renewable for four years. Go to www.dar.org for information and to apply. DAR has several other scholarships available for students pursuing degrees in nursing, political science, economics, history, occupational/physical therapy, and others, so please check their site for application information.

Regions Riding Forward Scholarship Essay Contest

Open to Seniors; students write a 500-word essay about an African-American whose contributions inspire and motivate them. Regions will award sixteen $5,000 scholarships. For more information and an entry form, visit, www.regions.com/ridingforward.

Shell Associates Degree Scholarships

Open to seniors who will be enrolled full-time or part-time in a two-year program in:

  • Process/Production Technology

  • Petroleum Technology

  • Compressor/Compression Technology

  • Electrical/Electronics Technology

  • Industrial Maintenance Technology

  • Instrumentation/Analyzer Technology

  • Machinist/Mechanical Technology

Students should have a 2.5 GPA or higher; award amount is $2,200; apply at www.captech.org and click on the student/student scholarships tab.

American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship

Open to Boy Scouts who have received the distinction of Eagle Scout; is an active member of his religious institution and received the Boy Scout religious emblem; have demonstrated practical citizenship in church, school, scouting and community; be at least 15 years old. One $10,000 scholarship will be awarded in Tennessee. Every eligible applicant will receive a $25 check. Applications are available at https://www.legion.org/scholarships/eaglescout.

American Welding Society District Scholarship

Scholarship covers cost of tuition, books, supplies, and related institutional costs and is open to high school graduates enrolled in a welding-related program. Applicants are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. Applications available at www.aws.org.

Sahli-Woodall Teaching Scholarships

Open to Seniors who are planning on majoring in education; there are four different scholarship opportunities available on this website, one for sons or daughters of TEA members, one for minority students interested in education, one for FTA members, and one as a general scholarship for students interested in education. All awards are $1,000. Apply at www.teateachers.org.

TN Electronic Security Association Scholarship

Scholarship is presented to children of Law Enforcement or Fire personnel. A parent must be a full-time active duty employee of a police or sheriff's dept. or a full-time paid or volunteer member of a fire dept. A $1,000 award is presented at the state level and a $7,500 award at the national level. Apply at www.tnesa.com.

State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship Program

Open to seniors who plan to enroll in a two or four year school: GPA between 2.5 and 3.20; be a US Citizen; demonstrated financial need. 50 awards of $2,500 will be given and are renewable for one additional year. Apply online only at www.scholarshipamerica.og/statefarmgoodneighborscholarship/.

Stan & Thelma Plumlee Scholarship Fund

4-Year College Scholarship valued at $8000.00 for seniors who live in a manufactured or modular home, work in the manufactured or Modular Housing Industry, or has a relative who works in the manufactured or modular home industry. Applications available at www.tnmha.net.

Barbara G. Kirkpatrick Scholarship

James K. Goldston Infosec Scholarship

Open to Seniors in the East TN Foundation 25-county service area pursuing undergraduate programs of study with a National Security Agency-approved Information Security (INFOSEC) curriculum or computer engineering, computer science, cyber science, information security; one time $1,000 award. Spirit of Anne Frank Award

Open to Seniors who are community leaders and have been accepted to a four-year college. The winning applicant receives a $10,000 scholarship. Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund

Offers a scholarship program for civilian employees of the federal government and postal workers; scholarships are from $1,000 to $5,000; students must have a 3.0 GPA; applications are available from January to March each year. www.feea.org

Business and Professional Women Scholarship

Criteria

  • Recipient must be a 2019 graduate from a Carter County high school; to include Cloudland High School, Elizabethton High School, Hampton High School, Happy Valley High School, and Unaka High School.
  • Recipient may not have received the scholarship during a previous year.
  • Must be enrolling as a full time student in the Fall of 2019 at a 2-year College, Technical School, or a 4-year school in Tennessee.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.7 (B- average).

Selection

  • A selection committee appointed by the Elizabethton Business and Professional Women’s Organization will review all applicants and award one scholarship of $500. In addition, the local BPW chapter will waive one year membership dues scholarship recipients.

Required for Application

  • Completed Application Form (pick up in the Counseling Office)
  • Submit a 1-2 page essay (approximately 500-1000 words) on the following:  Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” How does this quote relate to the struggle for equal rights? How can you use it to inspire your own actions?

CHS Scholars Program

Open to seniors pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field or students pursuing a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) field of study with an interest in agriculture or energy related careers will be considered; Awards of $1,000 will be given to 100 recipients; apply online at http://www.chsinc.com/stewardship/leadership-development/scholarships.

AFSA Scholarship

Open to Seniors who are U.S. Citizens or legal residents; Winners are not based on financial need; Relatives of AFSA staff or board may not enter. Students read the required "Fire Sprinkler Essay" and complete a ten-question, multiple-choice test on that essay. Students receive one entry per correct answer on the test for a drawing for a $2,000 scholarship (up to 10 entries). Students may only take the test one time. MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund

Award of a varying amount given to seniors who are dependent children of soldiers on active duty, retired, or deceased while in active or retired status; Minimum GPA of 2.0; apply at www.aerhq.org.

Student-View Scholarship Program

Open to seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Students complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in the area. The scholarship is awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The scholarship winners announced in May. Awards are as follows: one $4,000, two $1,000 and eight $500 scholarships. AMVETS Scholarship Program

AMVETS offers two different scholarship programs open to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, must have be a child or grandchild of a veteran, demonstrate academic promise & financial need. Winners must agree to allow AMVETS to publicize winning information. $1,000 renewable award will be given for each scholarship.

SACAC Extend the Dream Scholarship

Open to seniors; must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher; have financial need; demonstrated commitment to community service, social justice issues and/or leadership qualities; Must submit an ACT or SAT score; Complete an essay on a specific topic. ATHNET Sports Recruiting Scholarship

Southern Automotive Women’s Forum Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

Female high school senior or graduate; Applicants may submit applications before graduating from high school or receiving a GED.

· Enrolled or enrolling in a college or university in any of the following Southern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

· Enrolled or enrolling in an accredited higher education institution

· Minimum GPA requirements: cumulative: 2.5 and major: 3.0 (must be maintained)

· Full time or part time (at least 6 hours per semester) enrollment in at least 2 consecutive academic terms.

· Degree being pursued in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or Automotive Field. Interest in considering or already pursuing a career in an automotive related field.· Applications must be sent by mail, postmarked prior to the deadline.
