The Carter County Imagination Library Board is hosting its Fifteenth Annual Educators Hall of Fame, which honors outstanding educators and their immeasurable and lasting contributions to their students and the community. The Educators Hall of Fame Celebration will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Elizabethton at 6 pm. That night, four honorees will be announced: two deceased educators (one from the city and county) and two retired living educators (one from the city and county). The public is invited to participate in the selection process by nominating teachers/educators who have touched their lives in a special way and given their utmost to the profession. Come out to support local educators and help supply children in the community with free books.  The nomination form is attached, along with a list of past recipients.

Carter County Imagination Library Board

Each month, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library mails a high-quality, age-appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them at no cost to the child's family. Countless parents have shared how excited their child is when their new book arrives each month. However, The Carter County Imagination Library Board, a local 501C3 affiliate, provides the core program's infrastructure, including managing the secure central database for the Book Order System and coordinating book selections and wholesale purchasing. It also incurs the cost of the program's administrative expenses and coordinates the monthly mailings. The cost is $2.20 per child per month toward wholesale books and the average mailing cost. The Carter County Imagination Library affiliate provides books for children throughout Carter County. The total number of children enrolled as of January 2023 to receive a book monthly is 1776. The funding to purchase the books comes from ticket sales of a local fundraiser, the Annual Educator's Hall of Fame, and local monthly donors.
