Elizabethton City Schools and Governor's Books from Birth Foundation thank Northeast Community Credit Union for supporting the Betsy Book Bus with a $2,500 donation. Funds will be used to outfit the bus and staff the summer program, which will provide thousands of books to Elizabethton children.

Donations are still being accepted and at least $5,000 is still needed. Students and parents have been donating books at schools to fill the bus, and currently at least 6,000 books have been collected. Help us make this dream come true for Elizabethton children by supporting the bus! Those interested in donating should call Bekah Price at 423-547-8000.

The summer program is on track to make eight stops weekly over the course of 12 weeks. During the school year, the bus will visit schools. At all stops in the summer route, children will select books to keep and add to their home libraries. This project has been a dream for years, and it is finally becoming a reality thanks to a partnership with Governor's Books from Birth Foundation and local sponsors like Northeast Community Credit Union.
