Facilities & Maintenance
ECS includes Elizabethton High, T. A. Dugger Junior High, East Side Elementary, Harold McCormick Elementary, West Side Elementary, the Wandell Early Learning Center, and Central Office. To accommodate the growing student population and to add new science and STEM labs, an 8-classroom expansion is underway at TAD. Phase I (Demolition of home grand stands) was completed in summer 2017, and Phase II began in fall 2017 with schematic drawings. Other major projects on the horizon for 2018 and 2019 include the expansion of the driveway and parking area at HME, addition of athletic fields on the old hospital property, and a new open air art space at EHS.
Over the last decade, ECS increased its net investment in capital assets by nearly 150%. Facilities upgrades include the addition of more than 20 classroom spaces, two new gymnasiums, new baseball and softball fields and more. Support from local businesses contributed substantially to the construction of the Citizens Bank Stadium, LaPorte Track, state-of-the-art Music Room, Indoor Softball Hitting Facility and Octoball Courts. Energy efficiency and upgraded controls in all buildings continue to be priority with facilities upgrades.
