Press Release Update 2020-2021 School Year

Posted On: Friday, December 11, 2020

Immediate Press Release                                                            December 11, 2020

Due to the rising number of positive COVID cases within our community, students on the Traditional Learning Track at all Elizabethton City Schools will return to a hybrid schedule beginning this Monday, December 14, 2020, through January 22, 2021.  With the increase in positive cases, we have experienced after holiday school closures, ECS will continue to operate on a hybrid schedule after Christmas break to minimize the impact on students and staff.

Students with last names beginning with letters A – L will be in Cohort A, and students with last names starting with M – Z will be in Cohort B.

After Christmas Break:

  • All students will be virtual on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
  • All students in Cohort A will attend school on Thursday, January 7, 2021, and be virtual on Friday, January 8, 2021.
  • All students in Cohort B will be virtual on Thursday, January 7, 2021, and attend school in-person on Friday, January 8, 2021.

Again, this change applies to all students in the Elizabethton City Schools.

All of this information and a calendar showing these dates will be published on ECS social media pages and will be available on the system web page at www.ecschools.net. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and will further update you if other changes become necessary. We want to encourage all members of the Cyclone Family to continue the practices of social distancing, mask-wearing, and frequent hand washing so that, as a community, we can combat the impacts of the COVID-19 virus. If you have further questions, please contact your child’s school.
