Thanks to a $2,000 Walmart Community Grant, Harold McCormick Elementary School teachers are introducing some exciting new games and tools to their students.
Second grade teacher Leslie Webb teaches math to all three second grade classes and purchased math games and activities to expand hands-on learning. “I'm so thankful for the opportunity to obtain activities that will excite the students and hopefully help them to learn through games and activities centered around second grade standards,” she said.
Third grade teacher Debbie Estep purchased a new rug, Q-Ball Microphone, STEM book, and several science materials. A Q-Ball is a microphone that be tossed to students so they can share their answers or read at a volume that everyone can hear. “I'm so excited to get this!” she said.
These grants were awarded just after Ms. Webb received the Helping Teachers Teach grant from Northeast Community Credit Union. This grant requires membership with the CU, and one is awarded monthly to area teachers.
Both teachers encourage others to apply for the Walmart grants, which can be used for a variety of educational purposes. The grant application is available here.
