Hello!  My name is Rachel Ayers and I serve as East Side's Reading Coach and Interventionist.  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Master's Degree in Reading Education from East Tennessee State University.  I am also a certified Reading Specialist for students in grades K-12. 

During my career as an educator, I have taught fourth, first, and second grades in a self-contatined setting.  I have also taught at the collegiate level as an adjunct professor for ETSU and Northeast State Community College.  My current role as a Reading Coach & Interventionist allows me to work with students in grades K-5 and collaborate with K-2 teachers as we participate in the state's Read to be Ready initiative.

I am blessed to say that I have spent my entire teaching career at East Side!  I wouldn't want to call another school my home!

My life outside of school looks a little different these days.  My husband and I just welcomed our son into the world a few months ago.  Life as a teacher and new mom is busy, but so wonderful!  During our free time we enjoy relaxing with family and friends, and playing with our two dogs, Lucy and Duece.
