Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am proud of the fact that this is my nineth year of teaching art at Elizabethton High School. I was awarded tenure on November 14, 2017! I appreciate both your interest and participation in our art program. I expect this year to be filled with a variety of artistic discoveries. For the fourth consecutive year, I will be applying for a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to fund an artist's visit to our classroom; in late November. In addition, for the third consecutive year, I will be applying for the opportunity for EHS to participate in the Vans Custom Culture shoe design contest. Select advanced art students will be chosen to participate.This will take place in March/April of 2019.

I am delighted to be offering an entirely new art course this year. Are you considering a future involving the visual arts? If so, Art Portfolio Preparation is for you! Students will develop a portfolio of artworks in designated mediums that include: drawing, pen and ink, painting, collage, and mixed media. Students will solve challenging visual arts problems using critical analysis and evaluation. Experimentation and self-direction will be emphasized as the student continues to develop both technical mastery and time-management skills. Disciplined completion of artworks and sketchbook maintenance are required. At the conclusion of the semester, students will prepare and display their own artwork(s) for exhibit.
