Elizabethton Leads

Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, the ECS Curriculum and Instruction Department launched a job-embedded professional development system to support teachers. Elizabethton Leads is a network of teachers who have taken on additional responsibilities as Learning Leaders. Their goal is to support teachers in the buildings in which they work with strong training, collaboration, and coaching. Program structure has been guided by statewide teacher leader networks, which began in 2015. ECS staff have been attending training since 2016, and in 2018 joined the dozens of districts across the state now using this model.

The 12 teachers hired to serve in these roles began in Spring 2018 following TEAM, TVAAS and Coaching and Adult Learning training. Learning Leaders particiapte in additional training, support Professional Learning Community groups in each school, and serve as coaches to teachers with regards to curriculum and instruction.
