Press Release Update 2020-2021 School Year

Posted On: Monday, November 23, 2020

Immediate Press Release             November 23, 2020

First, due to the continued high number of positive COVID cases in our community, the students at Elizabethton High School and TA Dugger Junior High School will remain on the hybrid schedule through December 18, which is the beginning of Christmas break. This DOES NOT apply to students currently on the Distance Learning Track and DOES NOT apply to any of the elementary schools. During this time, students with last names beginning with A-L will physically attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays and then attend virtually on Wednesdays through Fridays. Students with last names beginning with M-Z will attend school virtually Mondays through Wednesdays and then physically attend school on Thursdays and Fridays.

Second, we want to make you aware that all students who wish to attend school virtually via The Distance Learning Track in the second semester will need to complete the Distance Learning Application by the end of the day on Friday, December 4, 2020. Those students who have been on The Distance Learning Track this semester will need to reapply if they wish to continue attending virtually when school begins again after Christmas break. Also, any student who attended school in person this semester but wishes to be considered for The Distance Learning Track in the spring needs to fill out the application. Students who do not fill out the application will be expected to attend school in person beginning January 6, 2021. If you plan to apply for The Distance Learning Track for the first time, we strongly encourage you to read the Distance Learning Track Handbook, Virtual Learning Expectations, and FAQs before applying. All of this information can be found at by clicking the “2020-2021 ECS Re-Entry Information” tab at the top of the page. The Distance Learning Application can also be found on both the website and on ECS social media pages. Again, the deadline to apply is Friday, December 4, 2020.

If you have questions about the hybrid schedule or The Distance Learning Application, please contact your child’s school.
